Job Title: Workshop Manager

Workshop Manager to lead A depot workshop, overseeing Fitters and Yard Staff to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance—including PDI’s, LOLER inspections, servicing, repairs, and ensuring high “ready for rent” standards across two workshops—while managing all workshop activities, developing the team, maintaining stock levels, upholding strong Health & Safety and 5S practices, supporting delivery schedules, meeting customer and contract requirements, maximising fleet availability in collaboration with Depot and National Operations Managers, and deputising for the Depot Manager when required.
Key responsibilities include leading and managing all workshop and fleet maintenance activities; planning, allocating, and reviewing work for Fitters and Yard Staff; ensuring machines are prepared quickly and accurately for hire; coaching and developing the fitter team to maintain high performance; managing workshop stock levels to support PDI readiness; promoting strong Health & Safety and 5S standards; responding proactively to delivery schedules to avoid delays; meeting all customer and contract requirements; working closely with Depot and National Operations Managers to maximise fleet availability; and supporting ad hoc duties while deputising for the Depot Manager when required.
The ideal candidate will hold a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance, possess strong knowledge of plant machinery and repair, demonstrate analytical problem‑solving with a customer‑focused approach, show excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills, display confident delegation with a robust leadership style, have basic IT competence, and hold a full UK driving licence with no more than three points.
